Check to see if you have toilet regularly for leaks.An easy way to determine this is to drop some food coloring into the toilet tank. Watch the bowl, and if you see colored water within a few seconds, you will know you have something that has to be taken care of.

You can learn if a contractor’s license is valid licence and if any bad feedback filed against them. If their credentials are not in order, you don’t want to hire that contractor.

You should always be aware of where the main water cut-off valve is located on your home. There should be a water meter there or nearby. Fixtures, such as sinks or toilets, may also have individual shut-off valves. Make sure the entire family is familiar with these valves, and provide instructions nearby on which direction to turn the valve in to shut it off.
